It would be nice if you could embed a video in Constant Contact, allowing recipients to watch without opening another browser tab. Unfortunately, as of this writing, that's not possible. The good news: You can create a link to your video, complete with a thumbnail, in just a couple of clicks. Here's how to do that.
How to Add a Constant Contact Video Link For YouTube, Vimeo, or Wistia Videos
Constant Contact can automatically pull in thumbnails and create a link for videos hosted on YouTube, Vimeo, or Wistia. To get started, click the More button in the left-side toolbar.
Next, select Video.
This will add a video box to your email.
Click the box, and you'll see the Edit option.
From here, you can paste a YouTube, Vimeo, or Wistia link in the Video URL box. Next, click Test Link.
Constant Contact will pull in a thumbnail. Click Insert, and you'll see the link to the video in your email.
The video will open a new tab, meaning your email will still be there when subscribers are done watching.
How to Add a Constant Contact Video Link For Other Videos
Note that, if your video isn't hosted on YouTube, Vimeo, or Wistia, you can't use Constant Contact's automatic feature to generate a thumbnail. What you can do is create your own thumbnail, add that to your email, and link to your video.
First, use the Image option in the left sidebar to add an image box to your email.
Next, click the email and select Edit.
Upload your desired thumbnail, then select it as your image. Note that, if you want a play button, you'll need to add it yourself with an image editor before uploading.
Click Insert, and you'll see your image in the email body. Click it again to bring up the toolbar, then click the Link box.
Choose Web Page in the dropdown menu.
Paste the URL to your video, then click Insert.
Readers will now be able to click your thumbnail in order to open your video.
